Artist and master craftsman James Cunningham brings nearly 30 years of experience to every project he touches. His unique eye has transformed everything from tiny apartments to celebrity mansions. Long before "finishes" caught the American imagination, he had mastered all the old European techniques and was passing the tradition on to others. His enthusiasm to create the unimaginable leads him to constantly develop new signature techniques in reaction to the ever changing trends in interior decoration. His artistic influences span the globe and range from the classical to the contemporary which provides him a broad palette with which to respond to his clients needs and aesthetic demands. James believes that the tradition of creative finishes, begun in the Renaissance, will continue to flourish and evolve  in a world growing ever more more industrialized, digitized, and removed from nature so long as there is a human need for personalization, hand craftsmanship, and beauty.

Cunningham Design Studios works closely with interior designers, architects, and clients to determine the scope, design, timeline and budget for each project. The initial consultation is always complementary. We'll then develop a proposal along with any sketches, samples, and other materials necessary to evaluate the concept. We charge nominal up-front fees for developing these support materials. But, there is no further obligation until we get the green light to let our skilled artisans transform your vision into reality. If you can dream it we can do it!
